Overview
Shuguang Hospital (曙光医院), affiliated with Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, is one of China's most respected Grade 3A hospitals for traditional Chinese medicine and integrative medicine. Founded in 1954, it is nationally recognized for its excellence in TCM hepatology and liver disease, liver fibrosis and cirrhosis treatment, TCM nephrology and kidney disease, TCM cardiology, and TCM oncology. Its hepatology department — combining classical herbal medicine with modern hepatology — is a national benchmark for integrative liver disease management, particularly for hepatitis B, liver fibrosis, and cirrhosis. Patients from across China and internationally seek Shuguang's expertise for chronic liver and kidney conditions that have not responded adequately to Western medicine alone.
Campus Locations
Shuguang Hospital operates across two main campuses:
- Main Campus (Pudong) — 528 Zhangheng Road, Pudong New Area. The primary campus housing the hepatology, nephrology, cardiology, and oncology departments.
- West Campus (Puxi) — 185 Puan Road, Huangpu District. Provides general TCM outpatient services and select specialist clinics for patients in central Shanghai.
The flagship hepatology and nephrology departments are at the Main Campus in Pudong. Confirm department location before booking.
