Overview
Shanghai East Hospital (同济大学附属东方医院), affiliated with Tongji University, is one of Pudong New Area's premier Grade 3A comprehensive hospitals. Campus Location
Shanghai East Hospital operates from its main campus:
- Main Campus — 150 Jimo Road, Pudong New Area. All major specialist departments are housed here, including cardiology, neurology, gastroenterology, orthopedics, and the emergency and stroke center.

Essential Patient Information
- Real-name registration is mandatory. Bring the patient's original valid ID (national ID card or passport for foreign nationals). Without it, registration and self-service machines cannot be used.
- Outpatient hours: Morning 08:00–11:30 | Afternoon 13:00–17:00. Select departments operate on weekends.
- Emergency department: Open 24 hours with a dedicated stroke center.
- Cardiology patients: Bring prior ECG results, echocardiogram reports, coronary CT or angiography records, and any prior cardiac procedure records to your first consultation.

1. Official WeChat Public Account (Recommended)
Search and follow 同济大学附属东方医院 on WeChat. Slots open daily at 08:00 for appointments up to 7 days in advance for most departments.
- Open the public account and tap Appointment Booking (预约挂号).
- Tap Add Patient (添加就诊人) and enter the patient's real name and ID number.
- Select the department (e.g., Cardiology, Neurology, Gastroenterology, Orthopedics), date, and time slot.
- Confirm appointment details and complete booking.
To cancel: Go to My Appointments (我的预约) and cancel before 17:00 the day prior to the appointment.
2. Phone Booking

- Follow-up booking: Your doctor can book your next appointment directly at the end of a consultation.
- Third-party platforms: Alipay, official website (www.easthospital.cn), and Shenkang Medical Alliance (yuyue.shdc.org.cn). Slots are synchronized in real time.
Key Rules and Tips
Slot Release Schedule
- General outpatient slots open at 08:00 daily for the next 7 days.
- Specialist slots open 7–14 days in advance for high-demand departments.
Tips for High-Demand Specialists
- Complete patient registration setup before the slot release time and log in at exactly 08:00.
- Check for cancellations during 15:00–17:00 daily — re-released slots can be claimed.
- For cardiology consultations, bring a complete set of prior cardiac records including ECG, echocardiogram, and any interventional procedure reports.
- For neurology, bring prior MRI or CT brain scans, neurological assessment reports, and medication history.
Booking Limits and No-Show Policy
- One appointment per patient, per department, per day.
- Cancellations must be made before 17:00 the day prior to the appointment.
- Repeated no-shows may result in temporary booking restrictions across platforms.
Check-In on the Day
- Collect your number at a self-service kiosk or service counter on arrival.
- Sign in at the sign-in machine on your department's floor before your appointment time. Failure to sign in may affect your queue position.
Special Patient Groups
- Foreign nationals: Book via WeChat public account, phone, or in person using your passport.
- First-visit insurance patients: Register at the manual registration window; self-service kiosks may not support all insurance types.
- Elderly patients: Priority service windows are available for patients aged 65 and above.
Out-of-City Patients
- Register for out-of-city medical care with your home city's insurance authority before traveling.
- Bring your national ID, insurance card, all prior medical records, imaging, and lab results.
- Plan your trip 1–2 weeks in advance and book accommodation near Pudong New Area.
