Changzheng Hospital (长征医院), affiliated with Naval Medical University (formerly Second Military Medical University), is one of China's most distinguished Grade 3A comprehensive hospitals. Changzheng Hospital operates from its main campus:
- Main Campus — 415 Fengyang Road, Huangpu District. All major specialist departments are housed here, including neurosurgery, orthopedics, urology, gastroenterology, and plastic surgery.
As a single-campus hospital, all services are concentrated at this location. Plan travel and accommodation near Huangpu District accordingly.
Essential Patient Information
- Real-name registration is mandatory. Bring the patient's original valid ID (national ID card or passport for foreign nationals). Without it, registration and self-service machines cannot be used.
- Outpatient hours: Morning 08:00–11:30 | Afternoon 13:00–17:00. Select departments operate on weekends.
- Emergency department: Open 24 hours.
- Spinal and neurosurgery patients: Bring all prior imaging (MRI of the spine or brain, CT scans), neurological assessment reports, and prior surgical records to your first consultation.

Search and follow 长征医院 on WeChat. Slots open daily at 08:00 for appointments up to 7 days in advance for most departments.
- Open the public account and tap Appointment Booking (预约挂号).
- Tap Add Patient (添加就诊人) and enter the patient's real name and ID number.
- Select the department (e.g., Neurosurgery, Orthopedics, Urology, Gastroenterology), date, and time slot.
- Confirm appointment details and complete booking.
To cancel: Go to My Appointments (我的预约) and cancel before 17:00 the day prior to the appointment.
2. Phone Booking

- Follow-up booking: Your doctor can book your next appointment directly at the end of a consultation.
- Third-party platforms: Alipay, official website (www.czh.smmu.edu.cn), and Shenkang Medical Alliance (yuyue.shdc.org.cn). Slots are synchronized in real time.
Key Rules and Tips
Slot Release Schedule
- General outpatient slots open at 08:00 daily for the next 7 days.
- Specialist slots (e.g., neurosurgery, spinal surgery) open 7–14 days in advance and are highly competitive.
Tips for High-Demand Specialists
- Complete patient registration setup before the slot release time and log in at exactly 08:00.
- Check for cancellations during 15:00–17:00 daily — re-released slots can be claimed.
- For spinal surgery consultations, bring MRI scans of the full spine, CT scans, neurological assessment reports, and any prior surgical records. The more complete your documentation, the more productive your consultation will be.
- If a top specialist is fully booked, consider booking a senior associate in the same department as an entry point.
Booking Limits and No-Show Policy
- One appointment per patient, per department, per day.
- Cancellations must be made before 17:00 the day prior to the appointment.
- Repeated no-shows may result in temporary booking restrictions across platforms.
Check-In on the Day
- Collect your number at a self-service kiosk or service counter on arrival.
- Sign in at the sign-in machine on your department's floor before your appointment time. Failure to sign in may affect your queue position.
Special Patient Groups
- Foreign nationals: Book via WeChat public account, phone, or in person using your passport.
- First-visit insurance patients: Register at the manual registration window; self-service kiosks may not support all insurance types.
- Elderly patients: Priority service windows are available for patients aged 65 and above.
Out-of-City Patients
- Register for out-of-city medical care with your home city's insurance authority before traveling.
- Bring your national ID, insurance card, all prior medical records, MRI and CT scans, and surgical history.
